Reshma Gupta, MS, MSHPM

Reshma is a practicing internist, and part of the Population Health Leadership Team for strategy across all UC Health campuses. She is a creative physician-leader with executive management experience in clinical and operational strategy, quality improvement, digital health, and care model design.

She has led over 100 clinician and care team members in population health, affordability improvement initiatives, and value analytics through her current role and previous position as the medical director for quality at the University of California Los Angeles.

Gupta has focused on health system innovation, policy, and implementation to better define and improve the culture of delivering population health and more affordable care to patients. She worked as a senior adviser with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations’ Comprehensive Primary Care program to test new models of value promoting payment reform and currently advises the U.S. Department of Defense committee on Health Delivery Systems. Her research created the first High Value Care Culture Survey, evaluated drivers of value-based decision making in medical centers across California, and examined interventions to reduce expenditures for high-cost conditions. She serves as a senior advisor of Costs of Care, where she created the first Affordability Accelerator to identify interventions that lower patient out-of-pocket costs and leads a learning community of over 500 health system managers across six countries.

Becker’s Hospital Review featured Gupta as a top executive population health leader. Gupta has consulted and speaks nationally on population health and healthcare affordability. She has published in journals such as the JAMA, Health Affairs, NEJM Catalyst, JGIM, Academic Medicine, and her media contributions have appeared across NPR, CNN, and ABC NewsRadio.

Gupta received a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and Doctor of Medicine degree from UC San Francisco. She completed her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington Seattle and the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar Fellowship and earned a Masters in Health Policy and Management from UCLA. She is a distinguished leader of the California Health Care Foundation and Presidential Leadership Scholars programs.

Brian Hoberman, MD

Dr. Hoberman also serves as chief information officer for The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), with accountability for IT that includes operational performance, technology integration, and innovation.

His national leadership role involves collaboration with national, regional, and medical center leaders and staff throughout all Kaiser Permanente entities, which includes technology strategy, governance, and investments, as well as development and design, support for clinical content, risk management, security, training, communications, support, analytics, and vendor relations.

Dr. Hoberman led the development and deployment of Kaiser Permanente’s inpatient HealthConnect (KPHC) starting in 2003, for which he received a Sidney Garfield Exceptional Contribution award in 2010. He has served as the Permanente Medical Group national leader of KPHC since 2016. Dr. Hoberman is the executive sponsor of the National Product Council, which governs selection of medical products and devices throughout Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Hoberman received his bachelor’s degree in political economy at Williams College, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and his medical degree at University of California, San Francisco. He completed his internal medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco. He then joined TPMG in 1997 as one of the founding hospitalists at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.

Dana McCalley, MBA

Dana has more than 15 years of experience in value-based care and population health, leading large high-performing teams and optimizing workflows to drive outcomes. Before joining Navina, Dana was the Director of Quality and Risk Adjustment at Honest Medical Group. Prior to that, she was the Director of Risk Adjustment & Quality at Millennium Physician Group (MPG) for nearly a decade, where she focused on simplifying workflows for the 700+ providers across the organization. Her efforts led to over $159 million dollars in CMS ACO Shared Savings throughout her tenure. Dana received her Bachelors of Psychology from the University of South Florida and her Masters of Business Administration from Liberty University.

 

Eric Penniman, DO

Executive Medical Director,
Summit Medical Group

Eric serves as the liaison between Summit Medical Group healthcare providers and the support staff, patients, business partners and community, and he facilitates the ongoing transition of all practices from a fee-for-service to a fee-for-value model. He leads Summit practice sites and providers in providing a value-based system focused on patient experience and quality clinical outcomes.

Eric has practiced family medicine throughout his 21-year career. Since 2011, he served as district medical director for primary care for Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin, overseeing 125 providers representing clinics throughout a 200-mile radius. He also served as the clinic’s regional physician champion for advanced access and the associate director for quality improvement since 2004 and as physician champion for informatics since 2002. He helped to pioneer the model for electronic medical records (EMR) for the Marshfield Clinic practice sites and oversaw quality metrics during a transition of focus from “volume to value.” Prior to these roles, he led the Stettin Center and the systems family medicine department of about 100 physicians.

Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his doctor of osteopathic degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed his internship at Tulsa Regional Medical Center and his residency at University of Wisconsin, Wausau Family Practice Center. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and licensed by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

Ram C. Rimel

Ram is an accomplished data science leader with a background in applied statistics and over a decade of experience in healthcare analytics. As the head of Data Science at UNC Healthcare, he has developed innovative frameworks for data science engagement, career development, and talent retention. He also played a key role in establishing a cutting-edge AI Center of Excellence to align with national healthcare guidelines.

Ram is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, where he mentors students and integrates responsible AI frameworks into public health policy.

With expertise in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and AI governance, Ram has a proven track record of leveraging data to improve healthcare outcomes.
