Tracy Rico

Tracy Rico MHA, RN is the Director of Virtual Care Services at Superior HealthPlan, a subsidiary of Centene Corporation. Her current focus is on improving health outcomes through interoperability and innovation. She has spent the last 10 years increasing access to care by building the virtual care strategy of Superior HealthPlan and Centene Corporation and developing and implementing the first clinical interoperability strategy for Superior Healthplan.

Tracy began her career as a Registered Nurse and is passionate about creating partnerships that channel resources to needy populations in support of continuity of care.  She participates in several Texas Health and Human Services Commission committees to support interoperability and telehealth initiatives and is a Board Member for the Texas e-Health Alliance.

Erika Pabo, MD, MBA

Vice President Transformation & Central Operations,
Centerwell/Humana

Pabo currently serves as Co-President for Author which is a dual transformation company incubated and operated as a business segment within Humana. In her Co-President role, she serves as the external leader of the enterprise overseeing strategy, product and experience, marketing and communications, and organizational effectiveness and has joint P&L responsibility for the business. She also continues to serve as Chief Health Officer for Author, which she has been since the entity’s founding, where she designed, built and now operates a transformed experience for seniors enabling deeper, more trusting customer relationships, supporting their whole health needs and using new tools and technology to eliminate both barriers to care as well as back-office inefficiencies.

She continues to see patients as a primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Advanced Primary Care Practice, South Huntington – a level III NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home – as well as on the inpatient Intensive Teaching Unit at BWH. She also serve as Associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs and Faculty at Harvard Medical School.

She previously served as Medical Director for Population of Health & Associate Medical Director for Brigham and Women’s Hospital Primary Care Center of Excellence. In these roles she oversaw the population health management portfolio for all of primary care’s covered lives as well as helping overseeing primary care growth, operational improvement and care delivery innovation in areas ranging from behavioral health and substance use disorders to chronic disease management to physician wellness. Prior to her work at BWH, she worked at Twine Health, Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and the Global Health Delivery Project. Pabo has also provided consulting services to health care delivery and health care technology companies, incubators and investors.

Donna O’Shea

Dr. Donna O’Shea is the chief medical officer of population health management for  UnitedHealthcare, the nation’s largest health care company. Dr. O’Shea provides company-wide  leadership to design and implement clinical quality and affordability strategies to better serve the  health care needs of individuals, employers and Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

Since joining UnitedHealthcare in 2013, she has helped build and expand hundreds of Accountable Care Organizations with health care providers and facilities nationwide to support  the delivery of efficient, evidence-based care. She also collaborates with health care provider  groups across the country to increase the use of technology to connect patients to medical  services, including for primary care, chronic disease management and same-day visits. In addition, she leads HEDIS quality member-focused programs and manages Health Homes, a  coordinated care management program for Medicaid beneficiaries.

Dr. O’Shea is a board certified OB-GYN and reproductive endocrinologist. She graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed her residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and fellowship training at Washington University in St.  Louis. She holds a master’s in business administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, is a fellow in the American College of OB-GYN and a  Certified Physician Executive through the Certifying Commission in Medical Management.

Elizabeth Hyatt

Elizabeth Hyatt serves as Director of Payer Solutions at TytoCare, where she leads initiatives related to strategy development, ROI modeling and value creation for Commercial and Government payer partnerships. Her experience spans across federal and state government, commercial payers, and management consulting. She is a graduate of the University of Florida receiving a Bachelor and Masters.

How Hybrid Models Transform Value Based Care

Virtual engagement models will allow physicians to operate at the top of their license, while broadening their reach and deepening engagement. According to a Deloitte report, physicians estimate that 30% of their current work can be performed by nonphysicians and 18% can be automated.

Telemedicine is allowing the appropriate professional—a CAN, LPN, RN or social worker—to reduce some of the load of physicians by providing efficient triage and care, while still being able to escalate to a specialist in real-time, when needed. This will be foundational to making mobile, near-site and onsite clinic models functional, effective and much more economically viable. The ability to receive care outside of the doctor’s office has the potential to vastly improve the convenience of care, adherence to treatment and eventually healthcare outcomes.

We believe hybrid and virtual engagement will significantly accelerate the relevance and actionability of patient medical, health and contextual information. According to the same report from Deloitte, 2 in 3 (65%) physicians expect that in five to 10 years, it will be standard practice for consumers to own and control their health data.
